College Admission Pursuit

FAQ's

If you haven’t already discovered, you will soon learn the college admission process is far more complex and competitive than it used to be. When partnering with an Independent Educational Consultant (IEC), not only do students benefit, but their families do too. IECs understand the ever-changing world of college admissions and their knowledge becomes your advantage.

Inarguably, the college admissions process can prove to be extremely stressful and time-consuming. Partnering with an IEC provides students and their families with the knowledge needed to successfully navigate through the admissions process. From academic planning to developing your best-fit school list, from guiding you through the essay writing process to application submissions, the benefits of working with an IEC are countless. Perhaps one of the greatest benefits of partnering with an IEC is the opportunity it provides students and their families to enjoy the college admissions experience rather than struggle through it.

At College Admission Pursuit (CAP), we understand that every student is unique, and as such, their strengths, weaknesses, talents, abilities and aspirations all play a vital role in determining what their path to higher education looks like.

CAP provides students with the greatest advantage towards building a strong academic profile and achieving their individual admission goals. Our approach to guiding students through the college admissions process fosters a journey of self-discovery and exploration, resulting in students who are engaged, take initiative and demonstrate responsibility through their college admission pursuit.

Effective school counselors provide many services to high school students. The US Department of Education reports that public school counselors are responsible for an average of 250-500 students. Given the scope of their services, more often than not, there are too many students and too little time to give the individualized attention essential to a successful college admissions process.
CAP will help you in any or all aspects of the college admissions process. We customize our guidance according to your individual needs. So whether you need guidance through every aspect of the admissions process or just need help with building your college list, CAP is here to help. From helping students identify their innate strengths to analyzing college offers, the CAP team will guide you towards achieving your college admission goals. To see a complete list of the range of services CAP offers, please view the “Comprehensive Admission Pursuit” page on our website.
While no two colleges are alike, in general, the most important elements of an application are the academic record, standardized test scores, engagement outside the classroom and personal qualities. Additionally, institutional priorities sometimes referred to as “themes” such as legacy connection, underrepresented race or ethnicity, and socioeconomic and geographical background can also be considered. While colleges differ in how much weight each element plays in admission acceptance, it is important to know that range of GPA, test scores, rank and admission themes, change from year to year. CAP will help you to identify what holds the most weight for each of the schools you choose to apply to, and how best to highlight your application to help set you apart from the rest.
It is never too early or too late to partner with CAP. We work with students ranging from rising 9th graders to seniors who are already engaged in the application process. The advantage to starting early is the ability to identify college goals, understand what is needed to achieve those goals and to effectively plan each year of high school to ensure the strongest academic profile possible. Whether you start early or late, CAP will guide you according to your specific needs and guide you towards successfully achieving your college admission pursuit.
While CAP cannot guarantee you will be admitted to any specific college or university, you can be assured we will provide the guidance you need to create the strongest academic profile possible and help you identify any elements of your application that may help set you apart from the rest.
